Eternal Tears of SorrowEternal Tears of Sorrow adalah Symphonic Death Metal, Melodic Death Metal, Gothic Metal band dari Pudasjärvi, Northern Ostrobothnia, Finlandia, yang dibentuk oleh Jarmo Puolakanaho, Altti Veteläinen dan Olli-Pekka Törrö pada tahun 1994, dengan nama awal “Andromeda” (1991-1992 dengan memainkan musik Death Metal/Doom Metal/Thrash Metal), kemudian berganti nama menjadi “D.W.N.” dan “Moshington D.C.” pada tahun 1993-1994.

Lirik lagu Eternal Tears of Sorrow bertemakan tentang cinta, musim gugur, kesedihan, penyesalan, kehilangan, kekalahan, kematian, dan kegelapan.

Pada musim gugur 1993, Eternal Tears of Sorrow merilis demo album “Beyond The Fantasy”, dibawah nama “M.D.C.”. Pada musim semi 1994, Eternal Tears of Sorrow merekam demo “The Seven Goddesses of Frost”.

Antara tahun 1994 dan 1996, Eternal Tears of Sorrow memiliki beberapa lagu di beberapa CD kompilasi di Eropa dan Kanada, dan direkam dalam debut album mereka, “Sinner’s Serenade”. Butuh waktu lebih dari satu tahun untuk merilis album “Sinner’s Serenade”, yang diproduksi oleh label rekaman kecil dari Gothenburg, Swedia, X-Treme Records.

Setelah merekam album kedua mereka, “Vilda Mánnu”, pada tahun 1998 Eternal Tears of Sorrow menandatangani kontrak rekaman dengan label rekaman dari Finlandia, Spinefarm Records. Pada tahun 2000, Eternal Tears of Sorrow merilis album ketiga mereka, “Chaotic Beauty”. Setelah merilis album “Chaotic Beauty”, Eternal Tears of Sorrow melakukan tur Eropa bersama Nightwish dan Sinergy.

Pada tahun 2001, Eternal Tears of Sorrow merilis album keempat mereka, “A Virgin and a Whore”. Pada Januari 2003, Eternal Tears of Sorrow bubar, tetapi pada Februari 2005 Eternal Tears of Sorrow direformasi kembali dengan up line yang baru.

Album kelima Eternal Tears of Sorrow, “Before the Bleeding Sun”, dirilis pada bulan April 2006. Album “Before the Bleeding Sun” menduduki peringkat ke 26 dalam chart 40 Album Top Finlandia.

Pada bulan Mei 2009, Eternal Tears of Sorrow merilis album keenam mereka “Children of the Dark Waters” melalui Suomen Musiikki di Finlandia, Massacre Records di Eropa, dan Marquee/Avalon di Asia. Album “Children of the Dark Waters” berada di peringkat ke 26 dalam chart 40 Album Top Finlandia.

Saat ini, Eternal Tears of Sorrow sedang menyelesaikan tur mereka dan mulai mempersiapkan album ketujuh mereka, yang rencananya akan dirilis pada tahun 2012.
